Yesterday our Service Veterans Officer visited Russell Meadows and met with Veterans, and their partners, who are residents there.
Since it was Indigenous Veterans Day (Nov , it was extra special because there is a Veteran at Russell Meadows who is Indigenous.
Randy gave a presentation and opened the floor for general discussion on Remembrance.
We discussed the efforts of present serving members of the Canadian Forces/RCMP at home and abroad.
Randy discussed the role of the Royal Canadian Legion and what we are trying to do at the local Branch in Russell.
The picture with Cristine Field, Activity Coord at Russell Meadows, includes the water cooler the Branch donated to the Home as “Veterans Comfort”.
Our Veterans and seniors said they really appreciate the cooler because now they don’t have to go back to their rooms to get a cool drink of water on the hotter days outside.
Thanks to Maureen and all for supporting that initiative through the “Poppy Fund” .
